Browser Extension Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

This policy covers the Appraise.net browser extension for Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers, published by Domaincracy® LLC. It supplements our general Privacy Policy, which governs your Appraise.net account and everything that happens on appraise.net. Where the two overlap, the general policy applies.

The short version: the extension works only on the tab where you invoke it, reads a page only when you ask it to find domains, sends only the domain names you choose to appraise.net, and talks to no other server.

1. What the extension does

The extension lets a signed-in Appraise.net user appraise domain names from any web page: by right-clicking a highlighted name, by typing a name into the toolbar popup, or by extracting every domain name visible on the current page and choosing which ones to appraise. Results are shown in a side panel and are also saved to your Appraise.net account, exactly as if you had requested them on the website.

2. Information the extension reads

  • Highlighted text when you use the right-click menu, so we can tell which domain name you selected.
  • Visible page text only when you choose "Extract all domains on this page". The extension scans the rendered text of that one tab to find domain names, shows you the list, and discards everything else. Hidden page code is ignored. Nothing on the page is read until you ask.
  • The page address of the current tab, used only to decide whether the extension can run there. It is not sent to us.

The extension does not run in the background on pages you browse, does not read pages you have not invoked it on, and does not record your browsing history.

3. Information the extension sends to us

The extension communicates with appraise.net and with no other server. It sends:

  • The domain names you choose to appraise, together with your choice of live or batch processing.
  • Your sign-in: either the Appraise.net session cookie already present in your browser from signing in at appraise.net, or an API key that you paste into the extension's settings.
  • Status requests for your account (plan and credit balance), for batches you have submitted, and for appraisals already on file.

These requests are handled under our general Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Appraisals you request are stored in your account, credits are charged as shown in the extension before anything is submitted, and our servers keep the same standard access logs they keep for the website.

4. Information stored in your browser

The extension keeps a small amount of data in your browser's extension storage, on your device only:

  • Your settings (authentication mode, number of parallel appraisals, live or batch default, notification preference), kept in your browser's extension sync storage.
  • An API key, only if you chose to enter one instead of using your website sign-in. It is kept in the same sync storage as your settings.
  • Up to 200 recent appraisal results and the batch jobs submitted from this browser, kept in local storage so the popup and panel can show them again.

This data never leaves your browser except as described in section 3, with one exception: if you have turned on your browser's own sync feature, the browser may copy the sync-storage items (settings and the optional API key) to your other signed-in devices through your browser vendor's sync service. We never receive them that way. Removing the extension deletes all of it. You can also clear it at any time: click the toolbar icon, then the gear icon, then Local data, and choose Clear recent results and batch records or Clear everything incl. settings.

5. What the extension does not do

  • No analytics, tracking pixels or telemetry of any kind.
  • No advertising, and no sharing of data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • No contact with any server other than appraise.net.
  • No reading of form fields, passwords, payment details or any content you have not highlighted or asked us to extract.
  • No selling or transfer of user data to third parties. We do not use extension data for any purpose unrelated to providing domain appraisals.

6. Browser permissions and why we need them

  • Active tab and scripting (used only on the tab where you invoke the extension): to read your highlighted text, find domain names on the page you are looking at, and draw the results panel inside that tab.
  • Context menus: to add the "Appraise" and "Extract all domains" items to the right-click menu.
  • Storage: to keep your settings, recent results and batch records on your device, as described in section 4.
  • Notifications: to tell you when a batch finishes. You can turn this off in settings.
  • Alarms: to check the status of your submitted batches every 30 seconds while one is running.
  • Host access to appraise.net (https://appraise.net and its subdomains): to send your requests to our servers and to use your existing sign-in. No other site is requested.

7. Children

Appraise.net accounts require users to be at least 18 years old, and the extension cannot be used without an account.

8. Changes to this policy

If the extension's behaviour changes in a way that affects what it reads, stores or sends, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above before the new version is released.
