What is a domain appraisal?

A domain appraisal is a professional assessment of a domain name's market value. Our AI-powered system analyzes over 50 factors including:

  • Domain length and memorability
  • Keyword strength and search volume
  • Extension (.com, .net, etc.) and brandability
  • Comparable sales data
  • Market trends and industry relevance

Why do I get a value range instead of one specific amount?

Domain values can vary significantly depending on the sales context and buyer. Our AI analyzes multiple pricing scenarios:

  • Liquidation Price: Quick sale, below-market value
  • Auction Price: Competitive bidding environment
  • Wholesale Price: Bulk or investor transactions
  • Retail Price: End-user market value
  • Best Use Case: Perfect buyer with specific needs

Our appraisal range represents the retail market range - what an end-user might reasonably pay. This gives you realistic expectations for different selling scenarios.

How accurate are the appraisals?

Our AI system maintains a 95% accuracy rate by continuously learning from market data, sales records, and industry trends. However, domain values can be subjective and market conditions change, so our appraisals should be used as professional guidance rather than absolute values.

SEO-Based Domain Valuation

Our advanced SEO valuation system evaluates domains based on their potential to generate organic search traffic and convert that traffic into paying customers. This customer-centric approach provides realistic valuations grounded in actual business economics.

How SEO Valuation Works:

We analyze the domain's keywords and calculate its value based on the Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) methodology:

  1. Keyword Analysis: We identify the domain's primary keywords and assess their search volume
  2. Traffic Estimation: Calculate potential organic traffic based on competition and click-through rates
  3. Customer Conversion: Estimate how many visitors would become paying customers
  4. Lifetime Value: Determine the long-term value of acquired customers
  5. Domain Capture Rate: Assess what percentage of the total market value the domain can capture

Key Valuation Metrics:

Search Volume

Monthly searches for the domain's keywords - higher volume means more potential traffic

Cost Per Click (CPC)

What advertisers pay for these keywords - indicates commercial value and buyer intent

Competition Index

How competitive the keyword space is (0-100) - affects organic ranking difficulty

Trend Direction

Whether interest is growing, stable, or declining - impacts future value

Traffic & Conversion Estimates:

Our system uses industry benchmarks to estimate realistic performance:

Click-Through Rates (CTR):
  • Low Competition (0-49): 3.5% CTR - Easier to rank, higher organic visibility
  • Medium Competition (50-79): 2.5% CTR - Moderate ranking difficulty
  • High Competition (80-100): 1.5% CTR - Challenging to rank organically
Conversion Rates by CPC:
  • High-Value Keywords ($20+ CPC): 4% conversion - Insurance, legal, B2B services
  • Medium-Value ($5-20 CPC): 2.5% conversion - Professional services, software
  • Lower-Value ($2-5 CPC): 2% conversion - E-commerce, general services
  • Low-Value (Under $2 CPC): 1.5% conversion - Information, entertainment

Customer Lifetime Value (LTV) Multipliers:

Different industries have varying customer lifetime values relative to acquisition costs:

  • Insurance/Legal ($30+ CPC): 5x multiplier - High-value, long-term customers
  • B2B Services ($10-30 CPC): 3x multiplier - Recurring revenue, enterprise deals
  • E-commerce ($3-10 CPC): 2x multiplier - Repeat purchases, moderate retention
  • Low-Value (Under $3 CPC): 1.5x multiplier - Single transactions, low retention

Domain Market Capture Rates:

The domain's ability to capture value depends on market trends:

High Capture (30-40%)
  • • Explosive growth trends
  • • Growing market interest
  • • First-mover advantage
Low Capture (5-20%)
  • • Declining trends
  • • Seasonal fluctuations
  • • Saturated markets

Example Valuation Calculation:

Consider a domain with keyword "insurance quotes":

  • Search Volume: 301,000 monthly searches
  • CPC: $55.68 (high commercial intent)
  • Competition: 66/100 (medium-high)
  • Estimated CTR: 2.5% (medium competition)
  • Conversion Rate: 4% (high-value keywords)
  • Annual Customers: 301,000 × 0.025 × 0.04 × 12 = 3,612 customers/year
  • Customer Acquisition Cost: $55.68 ÷ 0.04 = $1,392
  • LTV Multiplier: 5x (insurance industry)
  • Value per Customer: $1,392 × (5 - 1) = $5,568 profit
  • Domain Capture Rate: 25% (stable trend)
  • Domain Value: 3,612 × $5,568 × 0.25 = ~$5,031,000

Important Considerations:

  • • SEO valuations assume the domain will be developed and optimized for search
  • • Actual traffic depends on content quality, SEO implementation, and competition
  • • Values are capped at realistic levels to prevent unrealistic multi-million valuations
  • • Domains with minimal search volume (under 100) receive a minimum $199 valuation
  • • This methodology works best for keyword-rich, commercially-focused domains

Understanding Your Valuation:

The SEO valuation represents the domain's potential value if developed into a business that:

  • • Ranks well for its target keywords
  • • Converts organic traffic into customers
  • • Maintains industry-standard conversion rates
  • • Captures a reasonable share of the market opportunity

Remember: This is the domain's business potential, not necessarily its resale value. Actual sale prices depend on buyer needs, negotiation, and market conditions.

Pricing Strategies

What are pricing strategies?

Pricing strategies help you determine the optimal asking price for your domains based on the appraisal value and your selling goals. We provide 6 different pricing recommendations for each appraised domain:

  • Higher STR (Sell-Through Rate) Strategies - Price lower for faster sales and quicker liquidity:
    • Aggressive: Quickest sale, most competitive pricing
    • Recommended: Balanced approach for faster turnover
    • Premium: Higher quick-sale price with good appeal
  • Lower STR Strategies - Price higher for maximum value, patient selling:
    • Aggressive: Competitive but above appraisal value
    • Recommended: Premium positioning for quality buyers
    • Premium: Maximum asking price for patient sellers

Note: Higher STR Recommended and Lower STR Aggressive strategies are intentionally close and may show identical prices for most ranges. This is by design - they represent the 'sweet spot' where quick-sale pricing meets patient-seller entry pricing.

How do I set my preferred pricing strategy?

You can set your preferred pricing strategy in your profile settings:

  1. Go to Your Profile
  2. Scroll to the "Pricing Preferences" section
  3. Select one of the 6 pricing strategies
  4. Optionally enable "Asian Market Pricing" for lucky number 8 pricing (88/888)
  5. Click "Save Pricing Preferences"

Once set, your preferred price will automatically display in appraisals, lists, and batch results as "My Price".

What is charm pricing?

Charm pricing uses psychological pricing tactics to make prices more appealing. Our system automatically applies tier-appropriate pricing:

  • Entry & Mid tier (under $50K): Prices end in 95 or 995 (e.g., $4,995, $24,995). This makes prices feel significantly lower psychologically.
  • Upper-mid tier ($50K-$100K): Prices round to clean $5,000 intervals (e.g., $50,000, $55,000, $60,000). This creates a smooth transition to premium pricing while maintaining professional presentation.
  • Premium tier ($100K+): Round milestone numbers convey prestige, using $5,000 or $10,000 intervals (e.g., $100,000, $150,000, $200,000).
  • Asian market pricing: When enabled, all prices end in 88 or 888 regardless of tier (e.g., $4,888, $52,888, $158,888). The number 8 is considered highly auspicious in Chinese culture, symbolizing prosperity and wealth.

All our pricing recommendations automatically apply appropriate charm pricing based on the domain's value tier and your market preference.

Where can I see all 6 pricing options?

You can view all 6 pricing recommendations in several places:

  • Individual appraisals: Click "See All 6 Options" button in the "My Price" section
  • Pricing Strategies page: Visit Pricing Strategies for interactive calculator and visualization
  • Bulk Pricing Advisor: Visit Bulk Pricing Advisor to get pricing for multiple domains at once

What is Asian market pricing?

Asian market pricing adjusts all prices to end in 88 or 888, considered highly auspicious numbers in Chinese culture. The number 8 (八, pronounced "ba") sounds similar to "发" (fa), which means prosperity, wealth, and fortune.

When to use Asian market pricing:

  • Targeting buyers from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Taiwan
  • Selling domains with Chinese, Pinyin, or Asian cultural themes
  • Listing on Asian marketplaces or forums
  • Appealing to Chinese diaspora communities worldwide

Examples: $5,000 becomes $4,888 • $15,000 becomes $13,888 • $500 becomes $488

How do price tiers work?

Our pricing strategies use curve-based logic with three tiers, each with different multipliers:

Entry Tier ($0 - $5,000)

Buyers are price-sensitive. Volume matters more than margin. Higher STR prices at 80-90% of appraisal, Lower STR prices at 100-130% of high estimate.

Mid Tier ($5,000 - $50,000)

Balance between appearing reasonable and negotiation room. Higher STR prices at 90-100% of midpoint, Lower STR prices at 120-160% of high estimate.

Premium Tier ($50,000+)

Strategic buyers expect negotiation. Anchor high. Higher STR prices at 100-135% of high estimate, Lower STR prices at 140-220% of high estimate.

Can I change my pricing strategy later?

Yes! You can change your pricing strategy anytime from your profile settings. The change takes effect immediately and will be reflected in all your appraisals, lists, and batch results. You can also toggle Asian market pricing on/off as needed.

Do I have to use the recommended price?

No, the pricing recommendations are guidance tools to help you make informed decisions. You should consider factors like:

  • Your personal financial goals and timeline
  • Current market conditions and demand
  • Domain age, history, and existing traffic
  • Competitive domains in the marketplace
  • Your negotiation strategy and flexibility

Our recommendations provide a data-driven starting point, but you should adjust based on your unique situation and market knowledge.

Deal Analyzer - Find Great Buying Opportunities

The Deal Analyzer helps you identify great buying opportunities by comparing asking prices against appraised values. Paste domains with or without asking prices, set your target buy ratio, and instantly see which domains meet your investment criteria with color-coded ratings. When no asking price is provided, the Deal Analyzer shows what would be a great deal based on your Target Buy Ratio.

What is the Deal Analyzer?

The Deal Analyzer is a powerful tool designed for domain investors who need to quickly evaluate multiple buying opportunities. It automatically fetches appraisal data, calculates deal quality based on your criteria, and presents results in an easy-to-understand format.

  • Smart Parser: Paste domains in any format - extracts domains and prices automatically
  • Customizable Criteria: Set your own buy ratio to match your investment strategy
  • Color-Coded Ratings: Instant visual feedback on deal quality
  • Sortable Results: Click any column header to sort by that criteria
  • Export/Import: Save and reload your analyses

How to Use the Deal Analyzer

1 Paste Your Domain List

Copy domains with or without prices from anywhere - auction lists, spreadsheets, emails, or marketplace searches. The smart parser handles any format:

example.com $500
another-domain.net 2.5K
thirddomain.com - $1,200
fourthdomain.io (ends tomorrow) 800
nodomain.com

Supports: $500, 2.5K, $1,200, or just numbers. Prices are optional - domains without prices will show what would be a great deal. Extra text is automatically filtered out.

2 Set Your Target Buy Ratio

Use the slider or input box to set your target buy ratio (5-100% of low appraisal value). Default is 10%.

  • Excellent: At or below your target ratio (e.g., ≤10% = 1% of appraisal)
  • Great, Good, Maybe: Distributed evenly between Excellent and 100%
  • Not Interested: Above 100% of your target ratio

Example: At 10% ratio, a $10k appraisal domain priced at $100 = Excellent, $1k = Maybe

3 Click "Analyze Deals"

The system will:

  • • Fetch existing appraisals from your account
  • • Show locked appraisals (1 credit to unlock)
  • • Calculate deal scores based on your ratio
  • • Color-code results: 🟢 Excellent → 🔴 Not Interested
  • • List domains needing appraisal at the bottom

4 Review and Take Action

Review your results:

  • Sort by any column: Click headers to sort by domain, price, appraisal, or score
  • Unlock appraisals: Click "Unlock for 1 credit" to access existing appraisals
  • Appraise missing domains: Copy the list at the bottom and paste into Batch Processing
  • Export results: Save your analysis as CSV for offline review

Understanding Deal Ratings

🟢

Excellent

Best deals matching your exact criteria. Price is at or below your target ratio (e.g., ≤1% of appraisal at 10% ratio).

🔵

Great

Very good deals worth considering. Price is in the lower third between Excellent and Maybe thresholds.

🟡

Good

Decent deals that could work. Price is in the middle third between Excellent and Maybe thresholds.

🟠

Maybe

Fair market value. Consider if domain has strategic value. Price is up to your full target ratio.

🔴

Not Interested

Outside your buying criteria. Price exceeds your target ratio. Domain may still have value objectively.

No Data

Domain hasn't been appraised yet. Listed at bottom for easy batch processing.

Pro Tips for Deal Analysis

  • Adjust ratio for market: Use 5-10% for aggressive deals, 20-30% for broader opportunities
  • Your ratio persists: Set it once and it's remembered for future analyses
  • Batch appraise efficiently: Copy missing domains list and paste into Batch Processing
  • Export for collaboration: Share CSV with partners or advisors
  • Track over time: Re-analyze same lists to monitor price changes
  • Consider context: "Not Interested" doesn't mean bad - just outside your criteria

Common Use Cases

Auction Evaluation

Copy domain names and current bids from auction sites. Quickly identify which auctions are worth pursuing and set maximum bids based on appraisal values.

Marketplace Bargain Hunting

Paste BIN (Buy It Now) listings from GoDaddy, Sedo, or other marketplaces. Find underpriced domains before others do.

Portfolio Acquisition

When someone offers to sell you a portfolio, paste the list with their asking prices. Negotiate based on aggregate deal quality.

Expired Domain Analysis

Analyze expired domains from drop services. Focus your catching efforts on domains with the best value-to-cost ratios.
